Think Liberal Arts are stupid?
Think again!
Fact: Many people, especially those who are on their way to become professional like doctors, lawyers or engineers, tend to look down on Liberal Arts students as see this type of program as secondary and of lesser value. In short, Liberal Arts are stupid.
Fact: These people are way off!
Let's explore some of the myths behind Liberal Arts:
Myth: A Bachelor of Arts degree won't get you a job better than a waiter or summer camp counselor.
Fact: Bachelor of Arts degrees are actually well sought after in many industries. According to a study by UBC, between 50%-80% of Arts Grads are employed in a professional or managerial capacity. There are many many great jobs you can score with an Arts degree, from the obvious arts and advertising jobs to Program Coordinators, Project Managers and Executive Advisers in a large variety of fields and industries, depending on your background, education and experience.

Myth: You need to go to grad school or further educational institutes to get a job with an Arts degree.
Fact: A graduate degree will make you more marketable as an employee. However, if you have the right attitude and spirit, an Arts degree may suffice for a good job, from which you can advance to high senior positions. This is because most professional and managerial jobs aren't looking for a lawyer, teacher or doctor who went to law school or med school- they're looking for analysts, developers and coordinators with the skills and experience you can get in a Liberal Arts program.
Myth: An Arts degree is a waste of time; science, technology and engineering degrees are a lot more marketable.
Fact: Arts degrees are as marketable, if not more marketable, than any other degree. The fact is, if you have the background, knowledge, skills and general characteristics required for success, you'll succeed in life no matter what degree you have. And besides, Arts programs develop your research, communication, creativity and problem solving skills like no other program. So why would anybody not hire you?
So, are you convinced yet?
A Liberal Arts degree is a smart choice!
