Famous Liberal Arts Grads

Think Liberal Arts Grads can only work at Burger King?

Many people believe that since a Liberal Arts education doesn't provide any specific designation like an Engineering or a Business degree, it's impossible to find a good job using a Liberal Arts degree.

These Liberal Arts Graduates will prove you wrong!

Liberal Arts provide a well-rounded education in a variety of areas. Instead of concentrating on one topic, you learn a lot and focus on gaining transferable skills that are useful in every job, from communication skills to research experience.

Here are a few examples of highly successful people who realized that and took a Liberal Arts program to get to the top:

John F. Kennedy, best known for being the 35th President of the United States. He graduated with a history degree in international affairs.

Sally Ride, first American women to be an astronaut in outer space. In addition to a physics degree, she graduated with a Liberal Arts degree in English (which sadly, did not help her communicate with those aliens).

Brian Lamb, founder and CEO of C-Span, a television network airing live government proceeding and public affairs. Not surprisingly, he graduated with a degree in Speech and Communication.

Harold Varmus, a Noble-prize winner in Medicine for discovering the cellular origin of retroviral oncogenes. Varmus holds a B.A. in English literature and a graduate degree in English before entering medical school.

Jill Barad, former CEO of Mattel Inc., one of the world's largest toy company with products like Barbie dolls and Hot Wheels cars. Jill graduated with degrees in English and Psychology.
