Liberal Arts: Where to learn? Part
2
Here are a few other general profiles of schools that offer Liberal
Arts, a broad range of majors, to cover many student interests.
Liberal Arts is a great way to launch a successful career and with
the help of some of these institutions to increase you're learning,
it's possible to achieve many things. Liberal arts colleges such as
these open the doors for students!
Mount Allison, ranked as a top school by both McLeans and

many options in which can enrich any student's experience
academically. Known for it's small class sizes and tons of
student/professor interaction, the conversations and communication

continuous learning, and at Mount A it seems apparent that the
learning never stops, and it is encouraged to keep questioning.

And you can create unique majors and minors - something that is
more difficult to do at larger institutions, allowing you to
explore many, if not all, of your academic

Thompson Rivers University has an
amazing range of courses, all with their own niche of great
professors and great minds that bring the learning for a student
full circle. Thompson Rivers University embraces the liberal arts
through their commitment to small class sizes and interaction,
especially on an internationally friendly scale. TRU maintains a
great set of choices for students ranging from all over in terms of
course interests and availability.

You will
develop critical thinking and communication skills, and you will
have opportunities to explore issues that are vital to our
provincial, national and global communities. The General B.A. program provides a broad
liberal arts education by combining a concentration in at least one
discipline or thematic area with requirements that ensure a broad
selection of courses. The Major programs (currently available in
Economics, English, Geography, History, Mathematics, Psychology and
Sociology) allow students to focus specifically on courses in one
area of study. All students in the B.A. program are exposed to a
second language and to the process of scientific and formal
reasoning. Within each program of study, however, there are a
number of possible degree options. Thus, students have a good deal
of freedom to design a B.A. program that suits their own individual
needs.

Fanshawe College is a student friendly destination which helps
students both realize and prepare them for further post-secondary
studies, whether this be on a college level or university. What is
interesting about Fanshawe is that within Liberal Arts lies the
tools in which we learn to be self-motivating, excellent workers
and communicators. At Fanshawe, through a program called Liberal
Studies, students can achieve just that. Plus, the options in the
faculty of arts are separated into five main streams depending on
your background and interests, Liberal Studies being one of the
streams.
Students select the Liberal Studies Major as
it is a challenging course of study designed to develop essential
skills (reading, researching, writing and analysis) necessary for
success in university humanities and social science programs. This
Major allows the students to prepare for career programs and earn
transfer credits to other post-secondary programs. If selecting
this major, you should have a relatively strong secondary school
background, a 'B' (U, U/C, or OAC) or better in English, and the
intention to continue your post-secondary studies in a university
setting.
Fanshawe's Liberal Arts offering then can be
found within the following 4 threads:
- Corporate Communication and
Public Relations
- General Arts and Science (International
Students)
- General Arts and Science (One Year)
- General Arts and Science (One
Year, English Language Studies)
For a more comprehensive list of all courses, including trades and
career specific options, check out
